Default Big Bear in Red Oaks area

Just out of curiosity.....
I saw two pictures of bear taken this season.. one listed at 575lbs, that was 7'6" and another listed at 550lbs with no other measurements. The first bear I heard was around 18-20yrs old. I am curious if anyone has seen any "official" data concerning either of these bear. The biggest one in the pictures looked ugly as all hell. Other random bear that had been harvested in the area a 348lb and a 411lb I believe if my memory is correct. Again, I have only seen pictures at the gas station and heard from the locals, so all of the data given is unofficial, which is why I am curious about them.

I just figured the big one might be able to be a new state record if scored.

you would be suprized, there have been bears taken over 600 in michigan. Nugents bear was 600 (Bergland) and Gettlers was 650 (red oak) Gettlers IS the handgun record.

I wanna say the Cappert bear in Menominee Co in the 80's was over 700. I look when I find the book again....in the process of moving.....

The picture of the bear at the gas station was it in back of a red truck at the bp in atlanta? And did a woman shoot it? If so I am that woman that shot it. I have not got it scored yet but I am in the process. It did come out to weigh 550 pounds. Let me know if you need more info.

The one in the Curran BP was 578 lbs. The property where that bear was taken has produced many big bears over the years. I shot a 380 lb. on the same property back in 2002 and that was one of the smaller bears taken off that property in the last ten years.

a 663 bear was taken in red oak / curran area / about 6 years ago, It was never listed in the books as investigation into the license holder, who was not the shooter ended up in poaching charges, Bear is in the DNRs lansing hall of shame in full body mount, should have been a new record.

There was a 575 lb. bear in the Alpena News last week or the week before taken in the Curran area. The guy that took it owned the BP stations in Curran and Fairview before.
