Mercury Outboard Year???

I am on the verge of buying a 15 horse Merc from a friend of a friend but I can't find out what year it is. I was told it is a "mid-90's" outboard. It looks very clean and it could easily be a mid-90's but how can I tell? I looked on a few different websites but the serial number did not match up with any of them. Any advice?

Never mind, I found out it was built in 1993.
