Just getting back into lake michigan salmon fishing after a several year hiatus. I'm looking at putting a Helix 9 on my boat but I'm not sure if the DI unit is worth the extra money. The boat would be pretty much exclusively used for big lake trolling if that makes a difference. Any...
I hunt public in Montcalm county (zone 3) and had the worst season ever for deer sightings. My trail cameras mirrored my observations. The practically unlimited doe permits on public lands has got to stop!!!
32 consecutive since I was 14. Never missed an opening morning, but did have to quit a job once that wouldn't give me the day off! Some things in life are not negotiable.
I have a Tikka T3X in 7mm-08 and another in .308. I'll probably use the .308 this year. Opening morning will be the first time its seen action since my Michigan elk hunt in '21.

I drew a December tag last year and called Scott Connell. He was full but recommended a handful of names that he works with. I ended up booking with one of his recommendations, Joe Ferguson, and shot a 6X7 the first morning.
I have both calibers and to ask which is better for deer is really splitting hairs. Do you reload? If not, I'd definitely get the .308. Finding 7mm-08 ammo isn't easy in today's world, nor is it cheap.
