we fish up stream of there and seen only cat fishing boats we did get some silver bass for the smoker . and all persons fishing for cats got sucked. no eyes in the boat today.
no the threaded rods are some cob job just replace the wood with new and go out and use your boat. if you think about it the rod running through it would weaken the wood front to back force from the motor pushing on the transom . steve k8vol
there are better boats then that one both the boat and motor are entry level and are just low cost to buy not to keep running or have any resale value . just my two cents. steve.
gills in the summer are all way swimming in to 2 to 10 ft at nite on lime lake in kent county we have to fish below them to get to the rainbows or all you get are small little gills. k8vol steve.
You may find it's going to take a big big block motor to get the starcraft on plane and use gas like you never think Plus any boat with more the 17 degree deadrise don't work well as jetpower. good luck , steve k8vol

we had the 1400augler with a 60 hp and loved it just the carpet was a pain . love the crestliner my self. have two older ones now and hope to get a 16' sportsman some day
It's going to be a long Slow ride up stream with just 8hp from Johnson park to 131 you may think about a larger motor like 15 to 25 to make that ride faster in the river. steve k8vol
We had a 2003 14 angler side console with a 60 efi Mercury and it was about 52mph on a 1" ripple hard to get up on plane with 1' or bigger wave motor to heavy to jump out of it's own hole in waves . Steve k8vol
Try some EZ-off oven cleaner on the spray paint on the boat the best stuff has ammonia in it works great on removing painted letters and graffiti form factory paint jobs on cars and boats . Steve k8vol.
Get a twin Cly. or the vibration will drive you nuts. Have a 4hp single and it,s a big vibration through the whole boat (like running a lawn mower with a bent blade) hope that helps
