The wood has darkened under the finish. Sand it all off with different grits from coarse to fine. Refinish or paint. Or hang drywall on top and paint if you don't want to strip and paint.
Those things are pretty cheap. I bought something similar a few years back for the same price. Camp parks they were called. They worked great. Still use em. Great way to claim spots and much cheaper and easier than bait.
