I bought the cabelas caliber specific 3x9x40 last year for my rem 700 308. Been a great scope so far. I got it for a steal last winter and couldn't pass it up. Can't say anything about its longevity but it's a clear, bright, and accurate scope so far. Don't have any experience with the other two so can't comment on those
I don't have any experience with the Cabela's branded scopes. You can't go wrong with the Leupold; American made and lifetime warranty.
Another option ... Cabelas has the Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44 (30mm tube) on sale for $250. They have $10 off plus free shipping for everyone, or if you have a Club card, they have 10% off and free shipping today only.
A Bushnell Elite 3200 is a great scope for about $200. You can find used Sightron SII's in that range. Or you can get a Mueller APV 4.5x14x40 for about $120. I've had a few Muellers through the years and they're a great scope for the money.
The Cabela's brand scopes are fantastic for the money. The lower end ones are a super value and the higher end Euro scopes can't be beat for the money.
IMHO forget about 'caliber specific' reticle gimmicks; learn to judge range and wind and use a standard crosshair.
Redfield Revolution should be in your budget and is a fine scope; they have 'ballistic holdover' reticles if you really want one. 3-9X is fine; standard weaver bases and rings are inexpensive and very strong.
Good advice. I am always baffled in why a person would buy a good quality firearm and then want to skimp on the most important part, the aiming system.
My son has had good luck with the Nikon on his ML, no issues in 5 or 6 years, and very good in low light. I use Leupold pretty much exclusively these days and have nothing bad to say about that brand.
I agree. I keep my shots under 400 yards anyways, and I sight my guns in for MPBR (Maximum Point Blank Range). That keeps me right on the vitals out to 300 yards, and then I'm only low 7" at 350, and 14" at 400. I'm not very good at deciphering all the hash's and dots in a reticle when I only have seconds to shoot a deer as it's about to walk out of sight. I like to keep it as simple as possible.
You will be pleased with the Cabela's scope. I have a Cabela's scope on my muzzleloader. Simple and good sight picture. Have taken 2 deer with it. It's 13 yrs old and going strong.
I pick my new rifle up saturday. The small store I got my rifle from will mount and boresight my scope. But due to the weather predicted on saturday I may wait til sunday or a different day to sight in the rifle.
