Greetings, I saw your old post inquiring about Dunham Lake. Did you ever fish it? Looking at some property over there and wondered if the fishing is any good. Any info appreciated. Thanks....Bill

Lower river near Tenton or Wyandotte is a good place to start. Elizabeth Park is a nice ramp, so is Wyandotte. We are heading into the time of year when the best place to start is where the boats are; so thick you can walk across them on the weekend. Wyandotte; steel miills is a good starting point. Trenton, try starting below the bridge and just above the bridge on the island side.

if you would rather fish for smaller fish, gills, crappies ect the cuts at Mels Marina in Saginaw might keep kids interested, fishing was good last week til wind switched an cold weather moved in,however warm temps this week might get them started again,if that sounds good I will be checking it out tomorrow, let me know and I'll let ya know how I do,also small bait shop right there

Hi, this is Jonathan, we interacted on the SLM open seat thread. If the offer still stands, I was wondering what dates you would be open to have me join you. I’m more than happy to pay for gas and food!

Good morning. Read your post on your mom. I know its a rough thing to handle. We just went through it with my mom. She is in well bridge of clarkston. My wife is up on the entire process and is more than willing to give you and your wife a brain dump. Its a lot to get up to speed on. There are several very good facilities in livingston county and surrounding areas.

We are more than happy to help.

Hey, Dan. Just joined this site and am finding it quite informative. My buddies and I are planning our first Detroit River camping/fishing trip this Spring, so I'm looking to gather as much info as possible. Coming from Ohio, Our current plan would be to camp at SSP and launch at LEMP. How does that sound to you? Also, you mentioned "coming back to the ramp from the TC"... what is the TC? Thanks again.

Man I haven't seen fish like that from river in a while. Used to get at cross **** in spring but moved to lake because of size. I may consider going back to river.

I started hunting near crystal falls in 1967, have not missed opener but once for covid in 22. First time across US 2, 50 miles of it was dirt.

Question regarding the upcoming Little Manistee River Weir egg take 2024. With upcoming above average temperatures for this spring, are we planning early on to be prepared to work fish or will this be like last year where we are holding fish in direct sunlight in over 80 degree weather while visitors are seeing well above normal casualty rates with tons of dead fish floating in the warm ponds?

Following your thread about rebuilding your 16 footer. I have a 1987 25 hp Yamaha 2 stroke and it has electric start. It runs and starts fine with electric start. It is very hard to turn over with the pull starter. I know your Yamaha is 4 stroke, but was wondering if you can start it with the pull cord. Your motor alone is well worth the $1000 you paid for it. I agree.....but we are both assuming the motor is still good. Right now I have a little too much water peeing out of the exhaust. So in a few weeks I will be playing with it a little more and checking to see if the head gasket is okay.

It does not have a pull cord setup on it right now.....just electric start.

Hi, were you referring to the Square Lake next to Lake Orion or the Square Lake in Bloomfield Twp? I was looking for cottages in the Lake Orion area and saw this post. Not much info on it as it is a private lake. Wondering if it has good fishing. Thanks...Bill

Bill, I was referring to the one in Bloomfield Twp. Jumbo Perch and rarely got skunked. The DNR stocked it back in the day. Lack of pressure has helped them grow. I never measured the depth in the middle, but it was 20' not far from shore. Union Lake was decent too. Walleye in there. Hope this helps.

Nice. That spot was great for winter fishing, for years. But then a nice sand roll on the bottom blew out in high water, and the fish started holding totally differently in it. I've never hooked a Pike or Walleye in there. lol. I've caught lots of Steelhead, a couple handfuls of Whitefish, and a few Suckers out of that hole.

We get everything out of there. A lot of fish sit in close to shore, especially in the back end. There are two spots we mainly fish, and both hold them usually. The pike are everywhere through there!
