Me and the ole man are going to try to fish this Saturday in the Muskegon area. Outside of salmon, is anything really biting? This will be our first time fishing out of a boat so I'm not sure if it's worth trolling or just casting off the side. I don't care what we catch as long as SOMETHING is biting. Any advice on what to go after and how is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
PF

There's always something biting on Muskegon Lake. Perch, Bluegill in Snug Harbor or off of Second St. on the North side. Northern Pike on the North side and towards the river mouth. There's always fish around the black bouy. Just keep an eye out for dead heads. :yikes:

Have you heard of anyone catching any perch or gills lately? I'm guessing the ole wiglers/spikes/waxies would do the trick? I've never fished panfish in the summer so I'm not sure what type of jig to use if I should even use one at all. I got all these Jam'n Jigs from ice fishing that I might use.

Minnows & wigglers work well. I use a perch rig w/ 00 spinner blade. I've heard that they're catching some perch on the North side. Just look for the boats! I'll probably be on Lake Michigan huntin' for Salmon. :D
