Icoms are as good as they come. I'm looking to buy two new ones in the next few weeks. I dont know what your price is, but these below are like $145. If you have a source at a better price, i'd be interested..

I have the IC-M45, which I think is the predacessor to this model....No problems and it has worked great the 3 years that I've had it.

You can't go wrong with an ICOM. I have had one of their submersible, waterproof handhelds for years and it is an outstanding radio. Your choice has everything offered today in most radios, but add the ICOM name and you have a excellent radio for the money.

I have the Icom 402. Nice radio. Being new to VHF, it took me a while to figure out all the features, but now that I have it figured out it's very easy.

Is it true that you need a license to transmit your radio in Canadian waters??? I found a website that said you do...but nothing official from the Canuck gov.
