I took the kids out to the river to try some cat fishing and not much was going on. We were fishing about 2 miles downstream from the S-curve overpass. We got a few rock bass and 4 gobies. At first I thought that they were sculpin because of the small rocks on the bottom but after searching this morning for identification the large fin on the bottom was a clear indicator that they were gobies. Has anyone else caught them this far up in the grand or farther? I'm wondering how far they can go? Will they get up the ladder downtown?

Good Day,
This comes from the DNR/DEQ regarding gobies. There really is some great information about a variety of invasive species here....

If indeed what you caught was a goby, (and you catch one again) the DNR asks that you preserve the specimen and take it to a regional office along with a specific location. The spot you mentioned has not been noted on the map of current know habitats. I am sure the DNR would like to know!
