Took twelve fish this weekend on the east side of the bay. Seven walleye to 5lbs, four sub-legal walleye and a big ol' drum. Smaller fish came on gold/green beeded crawler rigs w/1oz bottom bouncer and the five biggest fish came off the Capt Dan's monkey puke spoon rig on a 3/4oz bottom bouncer. Never went deeper than 5ft of water all day.

Glad to hear it Tom.
My buddy Gary from the boat "Showtime" has been spanking them with my rigs for two weeks now above T-stick Jr.s. Hell, he has more of, and more colors of my rigs now, than I even got. I only kept about 3 each of a dozen colors I liked best. I may have to go to franks myself now and buy back some of my own rigs in the colors I don't have. :bloos:  Wonder if I can get a discount?

Tom.
I'm curious. What length leader are you running when using the spoon harnesses behind the bouncers?

Ok, I haven't been paying attention but I am now. :bash: Could you be so kind as to explain this rigging to me or maybe post a pic of it. I have been slow to bite on this one and need to pay closer attention to detail when fishing the Bay its not as easy as Erie but I like going north much better than south so I should get with the program.
Thanks for any help Jimmy

Dan,
I just tied your rigs directly to the bottom bouncer and it seem to produce very well. No hangs ups and did not lose anything! So I guess really no leader length, just the length of your rigs. I thought about running a couple of stick baits with them, but only fishing in 5ft of water I thought I would be cleaning lines more than I would be fishing.

Wow, I'm shocked.
And using stickbaits and the rigs as sliders in 5 FOW, would indeed be a nightmare. I'm still surprised your snapping them on directly to the bouncer though. You'd think being so close to the bouncer the whole thing would appear a little intimidating. I guess that makes my design of putting "Beaded Chain Swivels" at both ends of the spoon even more mechanically sound. And thanks for the feedback and honest reviews Tom. :D
And Jimmy, I'll bring you up to speed on all the sliders when we either fish together soon, or you come to pick up your work coat you left in my truck. I doesn't fit anybody I know, and it's to dirty for the garage sale.

Dan,
The water was very dirty Sunday morning so I don't know if that played any part in the success we had, but I will be keeping an eye on how they do in cleaner water when I run them directly off the bouncer. As far as a leader length what would you recommend (if using b/bouncers)? I tried running snap weights any where from 30-50ft ahead of your rigs and they did not do as well.

Actually Tom.
I've never ran my own rigs in conjunction with anything else except as sliders. So as far as I'm concerned, your the expert on my rigs when it comes to bouncers. :tdo12: :chillin:
If I was to run a leader off the bouncers it would indeed be a short one, if I was keeping the bouncer ticking bottom. I might make it a little longer if I planned on trolling at faster speeds with the bouncer. But nothing over 3 feet in any circumstances.
And Jimmy.
I'll give you a crash course on the rigs when we get together next. You'll have to pick up that coat you left in my truck sooner or later. It dosen't fit anybody around here and it's to dirty to sell in the upcoming garage sale.

Dan, ya that old rag has been with me along time i'm afraid to wash it it might fall apart  It gives me a good excuse to come over in the near future and this time i'll bring a couple of barley pops and we can sit in the garage and have rigging school i'm anxious to see this rig in action so I hope it won't be long at least when i'm by myself I can get 4 baits in the water eh.
