6 AM Sunday morning. Winds 20+ mph out of the NW. Waves 2 meters at the weather buoy. Temp 31 degrees F. Well it was my only day off so I had to go. My 2 buddies cancelled and it was too cold to take my 7 yr old so I headed out alone. Went to Anchor Bay to avoid the bad stuff. Made quite a few moves between the B marker and Grass Island. Sorted thru approx. 125 fish to keep 50 nicer ones.
All in all, not a bad day fishing!! Anyone else doing good on the Perch? I will be fishing a Perch tournement on the 20th but so far I have not found the schools of the bigger jumbos. There out there somewhere, just have to search them out.

You're a better man than I, Gone Fishing. I thought about heading out for a nanosecond, got seasick at the thought, and did yard work all weekend.

Northern Outdoorsman, Rather than e-mail, I will post some info here so everyone that might be interested can see it. I don't have the flyer but here is what I do know. The event is open to the public. It is held by Huron Point Yacht Club located at 32800 South River Rd. (Near the Harley Ensign Launch in Harrison Twp.) and the phone number is 810 468-3825. The tournament is Sat. Oct. 20th from sun-up and weigh in at 2 PM and there will be a Captains meeting Friday evening (not sure of the exact time). The weigh in is your heaviest 50 Perch and there is also a prize (cash) for biggest Perch. They pay out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and the amount depends on the number of entries. In the past. 1st place usually gets around 1,000.00. I believe the entry is $100.00 per boat (4 fisherman) and $25.00 additional for anyone above the 4 people. You have to give them your 50 fish which is used to have a great fish fry. The dinner is free to all participants and something like $7.00 for guests. They usually have a free keg of beer but they also have a cash bar. It really is a good time! You can fish anywhere on LSC including Canadian waters. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Last year it blew like hell so everyone could not go their honeyholes. We were all tucked up tight to the American shoreline. Anyway, If you can make it, look me up at the club. My name is John and my boat name is "In Cahoots". Good Luck if you go!!
