Right outside your marina is a known hot spot! Work from Metro to the 400 club.
Then yu have the delphine channel, the dumping grounds and the mouth of the river.

Troll the area of Peche Island, all the way to the Dumping grounds first. It wouldn't hurt to try the Ridges either. Also a good spot. You guys wouldn't have a Canadian license would you? More good spots over there.

When you guys fish near the Delphine, how far from the main shipping channel do you fish? The Delphine Channel runs perpendicular to the main shipping channel and is not very pronounced if you are very far from the marinas. I have caught tons of smallies there, however, never caught a walleye in that area. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can work the edges right up to the Grosse Pointe Little Club. I’ve caught them right up by the wall before. I’ve typically had better luck on the north side of the channel. As far as Bass, you’re right. There’s plenty in that area and the Sheeps should be in there spawning soon as well.

Since your looking for 'Eyes, the Belle River Hump and the area in front of the mouth of the Thames come to mind. The area East of the Thames can usually be real good around this time, it's a bit of a jaunt though. Not sure what kind of craft you'll be on, or what kind of range ya got. Good luck!

Its a bunch of clay mounds behind the dumping grounds. Its in canadian water. Drive your boat and watch your depth finder you'll see it go from 17 foot to 8 foot over and over ect. . Its a large area. If you find a good bump or hill with walleye, try trolling the shade side of it . so if the sun is setting in the west troll west they eyes sit on the east side of the bump. If you find a large one and get a fish, Mark it on the gps and throw a floating marker. go over the bump and get your limit. well thats the plan anyhow.
Just an Idea on Markers. I make mine out of those kids swim noodels. I cut a 1 or 2 foot section, where the hole is I jam/glue a 1 lb handline sinker in the end. this allows it to float straight up. in the center of the marker. cut a slice through poking with a knife. get 30 foot of line 25 lb or better and tie one end through the slit. wrap it around and tie a 4 or 5 oz pencil sinker on the other end. now cut another slit or poke with knife to make a spot to stick the pencil sinker in for storage when . You hit a fish, pull the pencil sinker out hold both in one hand and throw. you can paint the top for better vis. or have a light adapted to fit on the top for night.
I don't care how good gps units are, if you don't have a marker your not walleye fishing.
Ps make a look alike marker when the hurds of wisherman gathers around your marker, troll by and pick up your good marker and throw your dummy marker. it will float slow in the current. I get a chukel watching gusy working my floating marker while I work the gps mark.

Its a great time of the year not to have to travel all the way to the thames to get walleye. work the dalphine anywhere in the dumping gorunds, the edge of the ditch by the top of peach island, the ridges, Heck you can even long line raps in a few feet of water from the sturgeon hole to the belle river (canadian shore) The fish are there save your gas and wait until the lake heats up enough (tepm. wise) to force you to run into the deep blue waters of canada.

Had a run in with a guy last year at the Dumps that would pick up your marker cut the line and set it back in the water. After watching him do this to a guy fishing by himself and then to ours we pulled right up the side of his boat and told him if he touched our property again there was going to be a problem. Noticing that the guy was highly intoxicated we grabbed his MC numbers and told him that, if it happened again the authorities would be called. Didn't happen again that day, but a few weeks later we saw him do it again to another guy's marker. Old drunkard in an older Sea Ray. Some people think they own the lake...

What a jerk! I'll keep an eye out for him. I think I'm pushing enough fiberglass through the water to make that old drunk rock and role ;)

I had a guy hook mine with his planer board last summer. I had to pull lines and chase the guy down to get it back. He must of thought the seagull was going to fly away but plastic birds don't fly! :p

Laughing Gone Fishing! I love to seagull idea!
Ed,
You'll know these guys when you see them, older say 30' Sea Ray. Forget the name if it , but he's out at the Dumps all the time once the fish move as the water gets warmer. He told me he moved my marker because we were trolling his weedbed.
