I see that the lip is not only plastic, but it seems wider. Has anyone tried them yet? I was wondering how they swim compared to the metal lip.
Thanx.

I haven't even seen them yet? I hope they work just as well.

Shooter,
Gander Mtn. and Cabela's have them. Some of the secondary markets (ie. Walmart, Dick's ...et.) are starting to get them too. I will say that I like some of the new paint jobs.

I've tried them and they're not Hot N Tots. The action is not even near the original. In my opinion they're junk. The box says that they will not run as deep. They are also longer. As to the colors, There are some that look pretty good, but how do they look to the fish? I'd compare them, overall to the new improved Thunder sticks. Larry

Sorry to hear that.
Looks like it's time to find an alternative. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've used "Willies Worms" made by the Producers for some time now and I think they work at least as well as the old hot-n-tots did. The only problem is you have to troll a little slower or they will spin out. They are a lot less expensive too.
NO! they have nothing to do with Clinton!...lol

Like many other things, the new and IMPROVED? Hot-n-tots are nothing more than a cheapend version of what was once a great
lure.
Personally I think its about time that we as fishermen speak out
to the tackle manufacturers to get them out of the dark ages.
Whoever redesigned the Hot-n-tots new nothing about the original and only cared about production cost.
The lips break when dragging bottom or hitting something hard,
the shape is different and the action is different as well. So what if the new colors look great------ask any good fishermen and most will tell you that shape and action are usually more important than color although once the correct lure for any given day is found color will become the determining factor.
I'd like some feedback from fishermen on this one. I wouldn,t be opposed to putting together a letter/petition to the manufacturer as long as enough fishermen responded.
What do you think?
Fedback Please!

The phone number for Normark (Storm) is 952 933 7060. I've called it 14 times in the last year and only once got to talk to a human. They dont want to know what we have to say. By buying Storm Lures they have the opportunity to eliminate the competition. They tried glueing the lips on Rapalas a few years ago and had major problems. The good old dollar is the only thing that they're concerned about. The Hot N Tot was patented in 1972 and I think this has expired. Anybody want to start making lures? As I was told "they bought it and it's theirs to do whatever they want to with it". I for one am tired of getting this kind of bull from Normark.

Well this sucks. I haven't even bought one yet and I am already disappointed. I do like the colors though. Kmart and Meijer still have the metal lipped ones and I have been buying! I already know I am going to loose so many now that they don't make them.
Maybe we should go to there site and give them bad reviews! Maybe they would bring them back?

I'd like to get one hell of a large list of fishermen who want the old hot-n-tots back but that will take some time.
Until then, I'd buy up every old tot you can find and have them
repainted if necessary.
I may be mistaken but I believe that Franks in Linwood has a
source for lure painting but I have to check that one out further.

I am P.O. 'ed about the Hot n Tot situation as well. The past couple of years I've been slaying the walleyes on silver and chartruse in the Detroit River. I had a hard enough time finding that color. Now I am going to have a hell of a time trying to find any good hot n tot. Put my name on your pettion..but I don't think it's going to help.

Normark does not have a web site that will accept messages so that is out.

How about sending all your complaints to the pros that are sponsored by them. Maybe they'll listen to the people that sell their lures for them. They wont listen to anything else. I know that a few of the pros that feel the same as we do. Larry

Count me in I like the old style. Why do some people insist upon fixin what ain"t broke. My Daddy taught me a long time ago that ain"t the smart thing to do. I guess we hitten in the pocket book and beef to the pro"s. Maybe they listen to them cause they sure ignore us.

Damn Don,
That is a cool lil site! I am out of town every other day for work, so I can't devote the time to make that effective. C'mon guys, someone has to have an extra few minutes to put this together. Looks pretty user friendly. After you do, post the link so we can all sign it. ;)

I dont know why normark did what they did but they did. They have already destroyed the blanks for making more of the old style. Franks in linwood still has a good amount of the old style but not in the MOST popular colors.. people bought those up a long time ago. They tried to get in additional orders of the old style this summer but were unsuccesful... Im not sure but they probably sell more hot-n-tots than any other store out there... I dont think they are exactly what I would call happy about losing the best selling lure in there store.. hmm... the custom colors they get are from normark/storm themselves because they order in such high amounts. Which they will still get in the most popular colors. But heres a kick in the pants also.. no more rattle tots zilch zero nillllllll no more...
