We've had sod down for about two months with some of it already being rooted. Towards the back of the yard for about the last week something is rolling up the sod almost like carpet being rolled up at a carpet store for some reason. At first I though it was deer doing it but prints in the soil haven't been conclusive. There is a heavy acorn and walnut crop in the area. Can't imagine squirrels being strong enough to do this and it always seems to happen at night.

my guess is raccoons or possums looking for worms and grubs and such.

Well I put some moth balls out there and it didn't seem to bother whatever it is.

The skunks have been real bad this year tearing up grass. For a while in August you could set your watch by the time you heard one go through the bushes. Had one come out from under my truck, as I was standing next to it. I jumped and twisted my knee. They seen to of calmed down in the last 2 weeks, at least I haven't seen one.

The summer was rough on my household. There were watering restrictions and the grass suffered. On the days that I could water I had to choose between the water expense and my air conditioner. The air conditioner won!
Now that the heat is over I looked at my burned out lawn!
I know this Steve guy with a lot of cash and one of those fancy store bought lawns...I have been trying to make nightly trips to roll that stuff up, and put it where my lawn used to be!!! He must be a nervous type cause I see him peeking out the window all the time....I never get much accomplished but I will keep trying!!!;)

NEMichsportsman, it happened again this weekend even though I put moth balls out. From the evidence I see I would almost believe it was someone rolling up the grass to take it somewhere else. There are deer hoof prints in the area but I can't imagine they would come close to the moth balls. In all of the areas where the grass is rolled up, I can't find any prints at all, otherwise it would be easy to figure out who the enemy is.
