Underrated pike makes a good catch

This was the fourth northern I had taken in 90 minutes on a quick-strike rig, which was developed in Europe and works just as well when using live or dead bait for pike in North America. The rig uses two hooks, one on the end of the leader and one about six inches above the other. I prefer 20-pound fluorocarbon line as a leader because it's almost as strong as wire and much less visible.

I agree, pike are highly underrated. They are fun to fish and delicious to eat, and kind of a pain to fillet. But they are worth it if you catch them out of cool water.

I'd love to catch some pike, they're some of the best eating fish out there if caught from cold water and not the shallow bays of great lakes and such. You can fillet them so no bones leave the carcass and get some boneless fillets with a method that I saw on a video from an old TV fishing show when they were on fletchers pond (can't remember guys name). Works real good.
