We are planning a trip to Drummond Island in July, and would appreciate some help on lodge recommendations . Has anyone stayed at Arnolds Landing?

I've stayed here in the fall for a number of years...

I have been going to Drummond every fall for over 15 years. I can recommend two spots wholeheartedly. Papin's resort on Scotts bay has very nice cabins, most of them log sided or total log construction. No bait or boat launch, no swimming, but plenty of docks and sits right next to Arnolds landing. Beautiful view of the bay, and a lot of fisherman stay there, Bonnie keeps the place up very nice.

Our place to stay the last few years has been Birch Tree resort. It has everything a fisherman needs, bait and tackle, boat launch, gas, ice, etc. Donna's cabins are very nice also, well maintained, and she is a wonderful host. Very knowledgeble about the fish bite, and is located close to the Rock golf course and bowling alley. Much larger grounds then at Papin's, probably a little quieter, although noise was never a factor in the fall. They do have horseshoe pits, volleyball I believe, but no good swimming area either.

Have fun its a wonderful place to go, wherever you stay. The island folks are really wonderful, and make sure you stop into Chuck's Place, our favorite watering hole. Great dinners there and inexpensive, owners have been friends for ages.

I've rode the detour ferryboat many of times. I would recommend to stay on this piece of heaven. You're right the people of the island are second to none the best host ever.

We also stay at Lake View every year in the end of July/1st week of August. We are going up there on the 23rd of July this year. Two years ago we did well on the walleye. Last year was tough. I think it had everything to do with the weather. Two years ago, they had a big storm the Saturday that we came in. It stained up the river next to the resort and we hammered the fish in the stained waters. Last year, it was sunny everyday and in the 90's. Tough fishing conditions for walleye, but excellent golfing weather!!! Good luck when you get up there. Be sure to post how you did fishing. I'm already counting the days until I'm off to the "jew of the Huron". :chillin:
