Launched at Harley Ensign later than I wanted to. Hit the grassbeds just in time to catch the tail end of the surface bite. Caught numerous 11/2 - 3# Bucketmouths on scumfrogs. The surface bite ended, but we could see loads of bass milling about in 3-4 FOW. threw jigs to them with no results, but they LOVED small white tubes:). As the sun got higher, it was time for the great Muskie hunt. Four hours of casting resulted in follows by two fish, no strikes. One fish was in the mid- upper 30's, and the other one was a MONSTER, somewhere in the 50's. My buddy darn near fell out of the boat when the monster came zipping up right behind his Jake Bait, but it never hit, it just hung around for about 30 seconds, flipping us the fin. Oh well, thats Muskie fishing!:) I think it was way too nice a day for good action, I usually do better when there is a good breeze to concentrate the baitfish, and a nice chop on the water.
