Anyone have any reports for Houghton Lake? Thinking of going up there tomorrow ... hoping to hear good reports if I am going to drive all that way. Thanks in advance!

Nothing yet, hope to hit it this weekend. Let us know what's going on when you get back.
You a GVSU Student or Alum?? I'm Class of 1995 (God, I've been out of college 10 years?????:( )
I was up over the weekend. Not much going on. The bait shop was telling me the action really hadn't started yet. With this being a fairly warm week, and last weekend being nice and warm, it's time to get after 'em.
My son became a GVSU alumni weekend before last.

I've heard from my neighbor up there that it was a pretty quite walleye opener, a few were caught but nothing overly exciting. The week after, and this past weekend wasnt much better. The warm up should help. The crappie in the shallows/canals area should be starting soon as well! I'd give Jeff at Zager's Sportsman Resort or the guy's at Lyman's a call and get a report.

I fished the lake sat. morning, post cold front weather. Lake was rough, wind out of north. It was a very tough fish, trolled for the first part of the morning picking up 3 pike and one eye on a rogue (firetiger color). Tried some jigging with a bunch of other boats around, did not pick up one fish, nor did I see any other fish boated. Went back to trolling picked up three more pike. Fished both the south and north shore. Hope this helps and sorry about the font, I have no idea which key I hit that made this itallics crap. Weather up here for the weekend is not looking real promising, it is supposed to coold down and rain again. Big suprise!!!:(
One more thing, the weeds are coming back. I had to clean lures every 10 minutes, it is going to be thick again, I think.
we were up there last wed. and caught a couple pike trolling. not a whole lot of anything else going on though. water temp was only 47 degrees.

Fishergal,
If your fishing throughout the weekend, please keep in mind that there is a tournament on Houghton Lake this weekend.

Sabiki Rig, thanks forn the info on the fishing tourney this weekend. Who is hosting it??( PM me if you could) I am thinking the weather for this weekend is not going to be very good for the lake, (poor fishing weekend times three( in a row)) or for the guys fishing in it. This cold front has dropped the temp 25 to 30 degrees.:dizzy:
To all interested, I live 30 minutes away from the lake and am glad to see a thread about the lake. Lets keep this one going, or at least maintain a report. It is difficult to find good reliable reports on houghton lake, which by the way is a great lake to fish.:grouphug: Good luck to all and I will do my part to post everytime I go out.:)

Newk,
