Just a friendly reminder - the boat ramp is NOT the place to rig Your rods/play tackle box/wipe the boat down/shoot the bull & discuss the days fishing. If You have to see how it runs/tune on it, PLEASE don't tie up a dock during prime time (busy) peak times. Let's all have a safe and CONSIDERATE boating Season. Not trying to stir things up, just seems that some People forget how things should go - Bob.

i have a short mental list before i hit the ramp.it may help you from getting flustered at the ramp.

1) is the plug in?
2) is the battery switch on?
3) is my back straps off?
4) are my lights unplugged from my trailer?
5) is my transom saver undone?
6) are my keys handy?
7) is my launching rope on the correct side?
8) is my engine tilted enough to clear the ramp?
9) is all my food , drinks, ice , tackle ,bait, sunglasses, lotion, and gear in the boat.
10) did i make sure i have title ,registration , and liscences for all passengers.

I have seen too many preventable incidents, from people crushing their boats backing down sideways to sinkings, beachings and fires.1 ten minute pre check could not only speed up your day but make the day more enjoyable for everybody.have fun and be safe.

Your ten checks are great. Just don't do them on the ramp. That's what a parking lot is for. It is seldom I see a problem. I really think most all boaters do a pretty good job. It's just so dang obvious when someone doesn't know the drill. Get ready to go, then go to the ramp.

Good fishing

Don't forget, but this Iv'e seen not to much with the guys on this site. When on the water slow down at the launch areas don't send a wake into the launch areas. Yesterday at the Zilwaukee launch had the GO fast boats tossing the boats that was tied to the docks when I came back with the truck. Also 1 lady had a hard time holding a nice boat from hitting the docks from the waves.Even thou not posted around there they should use common sense. :bash:

Saturday on the River, the "go fast" boats disregarded any and ALL no-wake zones. Must be if You have one of those boats, You don't have to follow the same rules as everybody else. I'm starting to think bow mounted RPG :evilsmile !! Too bad those Guys don't read this site  . Maybe should post on Drunks-R-Us site ;) . Jokes aside, the Sheriff Marine patrol should be out on/before Memorial Week-end - Go get 'Em ! Bob.
