My Dad started going with his buddies in the 60's to a lodge about 2 hours NE of the Sault. My brothers and our buddies started going when we were in our late teens (70's), and we've been going ever since. Headed back in two weeks for the annual retreat. It's mostly lake trout, smallmouth, and if you're willing to hike into some of the remote lakes, brookies. We go into a remote cabin by float plane or portaging across lakes, but they do have some nice housekeeping cabins right at the main lodge, and a restaurant of sorts. If you want more info, PM me.

Been fishing Rice Lake for the last 15+ years. Depending on what you're looking for, Rice Lake has it all. If you go in the peak summer season, Expect LOT'S of TRAFFIC!!!!! THe lake will have a HOUGHTON LAKE atmosphere! I usually go in late fall---Not much boat traffic and fishing still pretty good--Mostly go for gills and perch!!!!--You can go as pampered or as rough as you want!!! All kinds of resorts etc. available.Let me know if you need more info!!!

Went to Osullivan Lake Lodge last summer. It is drive in. Great walleye fishing, good pike with lake trout and perch. The accomodations are spartan at best. It was about $400.00 for the week, we cooked for ourselves to reduce costs. It was a 16 hour drive that was really long but saw lots of wild life along the way. (moose, bear, fox) I would also recommend Pine Portage Lodge. A fly in lodge. Fly about 30 minutes from Wawa Ontario. First class all the way. Great fishing, good food. The boats are gassed up and ready to go when you get up in the morning. This is about $1500 for the week. Pine Portage really treats you well. The grounds are very well maintained, with a beautiful dining room.

Air Ivanhoe is an excellent outfitter. I have been going through them every summer for several years and plan to do so for a long time. They have fly in outposts or housekeeping full service style lodges too.

We stayed at this camp a couple of years ago and had a great time. You have a good choice for the type of packages you want. It used to be only fly or take the train in but they also allow you to drive most of the way in this year. The camp is on Lake Wabatongushi and has good walleye and pike. A nearby stream has good trout also.

A few years ago we went to loch island lodge, about an hour from wawa (if I remember right). Nice cabins, they cook real nice meals ( 1 night we had lobster and filet mignon!) The price wasn't too bad either. Here is their website:
