I will be in the Utica area tomorrow, and I am planning on fishing Stony Creek, pike or walleye being the targeted species. I've heard it is a very hard lake to fish. Is it even worth trying? If so, I would greatly appreciate any info and/or tips. Thanks in advance.

May try it myself tomorrow. I have fished it a lot the in the past and it is up and down. If you are fishing from a boat try trolling harnesses or hot-n-tots. A few years ago I would expect a walleye or two a trip but the last couple of years have been a little slow. I focus on the edges of the river channel or the 6-10' areas. Some guys have better luck by the south dam where it is deeper. If fishing from shore I think I would try there. You might have some luck from shore casting for pike if you are willing to walk a little. Lots of cats in there now too. Out in front of both beaches is a good spot this time of year but you need to cast out quit a bit if your on shore. There are some nice fish in there, but it can be tough to fish. Good luck!!

Well I fished despite adverse conditions, and came away with mild success. A 16 inch smallmouth bass (shhh don't tell) and a failed hookset on a 25+ pike 4 feet in front of me. A guy next to me caught a 7 lb bass and two pike. I concentrated on the shoreline next to the dam. Hope everyone else did well.
