Opening Morning

1st PIKE '05 season.Tried some stick-baits, & Mepps spinners,with no results.
Finally put on a 1/4 oz spoon,and caught 2 in a row.

The second one was smaller.

The 1st one,I guessed to be about 27"-28"(8-9lbs).The 2nd one,19"-20"(2-3lbs).

The big one never left the water,as the spoon slid from the corner of the mouth,to a little piece of skin on the tip of the lip,right as I was beaching her.
So I snapped the picture,and then applied a little pressuretoward the bank.As she flopped one more time,the skin broke for the perfect release.
I'd got what I wanted,so was pleased.
The other one had inhaled the spoon a little deeper,but with careful removal,first through the gill,then the mouth,it got released,and swam off like it had nothing wrong.

MOMS; It was off a bridge,over some skinny water of a local drain.Made my day.
