Has anyone been outfishing on the any of the Lake Michigan piers or have heard of anyone who has. Wondering if the browns are coming in?

I havent heard anything about browns yet. My brother told me, however, that yesterday him and his buddy got a few jack salmon off the beach near Holland. I,m sure the pier's are doing well also.

They have been getting Browns off the Frankfort or Elberta piers, and have been doing pretty good off the Manistee piers. Good luck <"><

Just found out today that, indeed, the guy's trolling between holland and port sheldon are getting limit catches of browns. Most being caught on Husky jerk's.

Thanks for the reports. I will be heading out to my favorite pier this weekend. Hopefully with the swing in the weather forecast to colder temps, won't hamper the action. Never know up until you try, anyway a bad day fishing is always better than a good day at work.

Oh yeah!! The piers at St Joseph are on fire!!! Talked with a guy monday at lunch who caught a nice coho on his 3rd cast. I saw 5 fish landed during the 10 mins I was out there. I couldn't stand bieng there if I didn't have a pole in my hand too. Browns, coho, whitefish, and even steelies are showing up regularly in the catch.
I am getting the boat ready for action this week. Hopefully, next week I'll be able to get out. Just hope I don';t miss too much.

The brown fishing at Saugatuck is going great. Last weekend many fish were caught, but all on the small side. We had 14 hits and landed 6. Hopefully things will pick up for size. Many fish were caught off the pier also. I hope the weather holds.

Here is my report from fishing Saugatuck's pier on Sunday 3/12/00. Fishing was good. Between our group we caught eight fish within the four hours that we were out there.
4-Browns, 2-coho, 1-Steelhead and 1-Whitefish.We had a bunch of hits but couldn't get them to take it all the way. The first brown I caught that morning was a beaut at 30 inches and an estimated weight of 10 pounds+ what a fight.

Is it possible to just wade from shore and have some luck or do you need to get all the way out on the pier? Also, do you cast the same kinds of spoons that you would troll at other times of year? I'm thinking about heading out to Lake Michigan somewhere between Saugatuck and Muskegon.
Thanks,
Jim

nucks, my brother was out sometime last weekend on the beach at Holland. He said they fished out in front of the Spyglass condo's and caught Browns and Jack's.
They were using spawn.

They have been doing good between Grand Haven and Whitehall for a couple weeks now.Spawn with floaters of the piers and body baits {like Rapalas }trolling.Nobody is getting out much this past week though because of this bad wheather { although when sombody dose tough it out they seem slay'em }.
The browns have been going gang busters at both Manistee and Frankfort. You can get em either off the pier or by boat in Betsie lake. Haven't heard of any really big ones yet, but sooner or later someone will hang a 30#er, they always do. <"><
