Has anyone been fishing the Turtle Island area? I'm looking for some reports for a possible Friday fishing trip. Weather looks OK.

I asked the same question a few days ago and got no response. Reports on some of the Ohio boards still sound pretty good.


Regardless, I am going this afternoon. (Cant let the first sunshine in days go to waste:D ) I will post our results this evening.

I work at the power plant Ohio side It has been to windy to get out north or or west .you can get out if you like it rough Also the Maumee is high and dumping a lot of dirty water and junk into the Bay .The reef's are probably the place to go .the fish have must likely moved back out in the lake

The fish are still there and the water is decent.Had several friends fish the area this morning and all had quick limits.Will be fishing in the morning myself so I will post when I return home.

How far of a run is it to the islands from the nearest launch???

salmonslammer, which islands ? If your talking about Turtle Island , not that far at all from Bolles . Maybe a 10 to 15 min. run at most.

Got out for a few hours yesterday afternoon. The fish are definatly still there, but have moved a bit shallower (10-12 feet). Two of us jigging minnows had a limit in no time drifting between Turtle Island and Toledo Light. Did the C&R thing after that and caught fish consistently. Keep the line verticle! All fish were nearly identical at 23-25 inches. The water was 53 degree and relatively clear on the Michigan side but got a bit muddy in Ohio waters out in front of the Maumee. Beautiful evening with a flat calm run home.

Half mile out from Crane Creek State Park Thursday & Friday limits jigs & minnows after work in less than one hour .Blade baits were working but we were snagging more than we were catching.Odnr were checking boats at the launch & docks .stay legal.
