Looking to book a Lake Erie spring/early summer Walleye charter and was looking for any recommendations from guy's who have chartered with-in the last couple years. I'm in Michigan so location for a charter isn't much of an issue. Best catch and best time to book is appreciated.

I used to dock my boat in Luna Pier. Great marina with several charter boats. Michigan waters are closed until June first. So if you go before then you would need to purchase a one day Ohio license. The phone number for Luna Pier Harbour Club is 734-848-8777. I would reccomend Trophy Cup Captain Eric Walline catches plenty runs a nice boat, however all the capatins are pretty good there.

I highly recommend Capt. Ron Levitan of Passin' Time Charters. He fishes out of Toledo Beach Marina. Ron is the best I've ever fished with, and a helluva nice guy too. His website is www.passintime.com.

CJ BAker on Puddle Jumper is my recommendation. He's a good guy and loves to fish (also paints for Silver Streak). His # is 734-904-0386. Tell him In The Red says "Hey!"

Check out Trophy Specialist (Mike Veine) a member here too. He moves from port to port depending on where the fish are and if he is still chartering in Lake Erie it is the best time.

Last I knew a couple of weeks ago he was fishing out of Monroe and I think he said he landed at least one master angler on every charter. Erie is a great fishery all year, but there are certain times when it is easier to chatch trophy fish. Check out http://www.trophyspecialists.com/mifishinfo/

Thanks to all who replied to my request for information. I have heard from three outfitters that I found online just from a search and all sound really good. Making the final decision is going to be tuff. One of the only things that I need to consider is there will be 4 possibly 5 guy's going on this trip so the boat will need to be large enough to accommodate our party. Here are the outfitters that I have sent emails too, and heard back from. These charter captions run large enough vassals to handle up to 6 guys. Anything good or bad about any of these choices please PM me with information. Thanks again guys and with this new information keep the info coming. We will be setting our reservations by weeks end.

While I've only used one charter, I have to think he is the best. I haven't gone in a couple of years though. It was Captain Steve of MI-HI Charters out of Luna Pier. I went on 4 or so charters with him, each time there was six of us. Not only did we bring in our limit each time ( other charters were not) ours were the biggest in size as well. Now the size thing may have just been coincidence but I don't think bringing in our limit everytime was. He seemed very intune and up to date as to where the fish were. There was no skipping around to find them. Just right there and started catching fish almost immediately. The only reason I don't go anymore is that trolling got a little boring. It was more like towing fish in rather than fighting them in. But it was still fun being that it was new to me at the time and we definately filled our freezers. Now that I talked him up, I wish that I could give you his number but I'm afraid that I must have misplaced it. I can't find it. I'd look him up though, I think he's worth it.
