Just got back from 2 weeks in Florida. What a shock coming back to 2 inches of snow/cold blowing winds. Spent the 2 weeks chasing tarpon and sharks. Another story for another day.

Anyhow trying to figure out a good spot to fish for eyes on the west side of the state for the opener. Tried Muskegon lake for the opener last year and got skunked. Not sure where to go this year especially with the cold air and colder water temps. Most fish will probably still be up the river a ways which will hurt lake fishing.

Any body got any ideas? Somewhere from Muskegon to Traverse City is in the range I'm looking for.......Boat is out of storage and almost ready to launch. Going to Fremont lake one day this week just for a cruise to make sure the boat is ok.

I can see a move to Florida in my future:yikes:

I would think that Hardy would be a good bet. Not a lot of big Eyes but, there are always plenty of takers.
Another good lake is Silver Lake in Hart.
We'll up at Long Lake for the opener. Good luck

Since it's Carnival time in St. Joe this weekend, thought I'd try something I've never done and know nothing about. Chasing " EYES " on Paw Paw Lake in Berrien Co. Couple of locals gave me a good idea where to go (alot of people tell me that) If all else fails I can alway troll for Pike.

Hey good luck to all this weekend. I will be going to Houghton Lake sat. Had good results last year, not great, but enough for a good fish fry.

Does Flatrock open for eyes also this Saturday?

Yes, but the only 2 eyes pulled out this morning were about 8 inches long. Haven't seen many in 2 weeks, when the smallmouth came in. Today all I got were suckers and 2 huge carp.
