Ventured to the nearby creek yesterday. Last week the northern were in pretty heavy. This week, at first I was not sure what they were, after some investigation I realized they were long nosed carp. If you have ever saw them when they were in the spawning mode they are pretty cool looking black on the bottom and top with a white strip down the middle.Have pics but maybe will post them later. With water levels low they were pretty easy to spot spawing on the gravel. The nearby whole was loaded with minnows and couple fat ducks filling there face. Here is what I found. The spawing fish were not really hungry as that often seems to be the case with fish. There were some post spawn fish I was able to hook up with. They did not like wax worms, or shredded wheat. They did like crawlers though. Average size was well over 20" and 5 lbs. They did not however have much fight like the white suckers I will catch in a couple weeks. Also there color was gone and they were mosltly just a grey brown color at that point.
The question is what to do with them? Take a garbage bag?
What do you guys do with garbage fish? Sell them to Gorton's or Mrs Pauls?
Gotta get that bow set up probably will be able to eliminate them at a much greater rate!
