Is anyone aware of any Charters for walleye fishing for the detroit river. I am looking for something close to the wyandotte area and am thinking about trying to get a charter for April 30 or May 7.

The problem is I know all the hot spots but am unable to get to them, due to the lack of a boat.

Also if anyone would want to get the charter also i would be looking for extra people to go.

If you can’t hook up with someone from the site to take you out, Steve Van Asche of Bushwacker Charters fishes the river in the spring. He fishes the upper portion of the river though. Nice guy and a very good fisherman. If you want to contact him, call (586) 783-8985

Here are two guys I see on the river just about every day, and almost always into fish:

Jim Barta: http://www.truefishing.com/

Jon Bondy: http://www.lakestclairfishing.com/pages/427778/index.htm

Homie, you beat me to it. I was going to post Jim Barta's info as well. Great guy. Not only a guide & charter captain, but a very accomplished outdoor writer and a person involved in the fishery. Sits on the Lakes Erie and St. Clair Fishery Advisory Committee for the DNR & NRC plus very active in the Downriver Walleye Federation.

I would second the vote for John Bondy, he's a great guy and always on fish.

Use Jim Barta. Keeps his boat in a slip right there at Wyandotte. White Stratos with red trim.

Thanks for all the replies I'll probably give Jim Barta a call being his boat is right in Wyandotte.

If any one else is interested in going pm me and we'll try and set a weekend up. We can split the cost evenly.

I would bet most guys are booked up especially at this late date.

As of right now, my license has not been presented to me. Paperwork I guess is still being processed. Thought I would have it by March but the goverment moves in a slow and mysterious ways. When I do get it you all can call me "CAPTAIN"

spk131, PM me if you can't find someone. I'll see what I can do to get you out.

Would that be Captain Walleye or Captain Mike or Captain Walley/Mike?

Don't know if he's booked or not, but you might want to try Bob Devine - Chartertalk Guide Service.

He lives in Windsor and guides on the river all of April and May. After that he chases muskies on St Clair or bass/walleyes on Erie. Good guy with tons of repeat clients. Runs a Ranger 620 fully rigged.

You can reach him at 519-984-4899.

I know he canceled some scheduled trips due to water conditions - that's the kind of guy he his - no BS...he'll shoot straight and tell it like it is.
