Smoked my first turkey yesterday, a jake. Marinated it for two days in apple cider, salt, water, can of beer. Put it on 200 degree electric smoker with hickory wood. Had water and apple cider (half and half) in the smoker. Took about 8 hours. WONDERFUL.

You might want to try adding brown sugar to your brine next time at 1/2 cup per quart of water

Hello,
I just bought me a brand new smoker and wanted to smoke a hole turkey to but didnt know how to. Can you tell me how much of the stuff you put in the brine and what do you put the whole turkey in when you let the brine soak in the turkey. Or do you inject it. I want to learn how to do a whole turkey or turkey legs.
Please help me out,
