Does anyone know how the weather that is heading our way will effect the walleye fishing on the river. I have yet been able to make it out in the morning and was planning on sat. morning , but I am worried this cold front will shut the fishing down. I would appreciate anyones thoughts on this.:help:

ya got to go when you can...... It's been my experience that cold fronts shut them down for a period of time...Sure you can still find a stupid one or two...I don't think you're going to hit 30 fish though..
I'm thinking about going down this afternoon, Looks like the best day for the next 3 or 4...At least the sun is out!!

Brian,
I was hoping to get out as well today but work and my daughters suprise 1/2 day of school has changed my plans. I guess I have to try and wet a line in the cold cold rain. Good luck out there today!!

Fish in the river dont shut down as easily as fish in a lake when a cold font comes through so probably the next 2 days you will still be able to get fish without a problem.

Will the cold front drive them deeper in the channels?? About 95% of my experience for eyes is out of LSC, Erie or Houghton Lk.... The other 5% on the SCR.
I'm a mullet when it comes to the big river....Only 1 way to learn!!!!

I handlined last night from 8:30-10pm, nothing, zilch, nada. There was only one other boat that I could see, I was in the lower portion of the Trenton Channel. Marked a lot of fish, most were in the deeper 17' water. Boat control was a chore to say the least.

I'd be more concerned with the wind and rain they're predicting than the temperatures.

If the North Winds that they are forcasting come true, the fishing will be ruined until mid next week at best. They are calling for gale force winds out of the North for 2 or 3 days. That will muddy up the Lake, which in turn, muddies up the river for several days. Do yourself a favor and stay home.
