Fried Fillets

Sorry for the late report. Went out yesterday afternoon with a guy that has been doing well in the afternoon vs. the morning. We fished from 12:30 to 4:30 and ended up with 7 fish from 15" - 22". All fish but one were caught on white jig heads tipped with a minnow. Most of the fish were caught just north of Calf Island. Water temp. was 51F and clarity was good. I'm sure this weather will affect the bite over the next couple days.

Steve:
Terry and I fished out of the Wyandotte Launch Ramp just down from Uncle Louie's the same day you did, and at about the the same time. (Papa Louie's ramp is closed, by the way. Do you know what happened there?)
I wanted to drift with bottom bouncers, but the wind was so strong it blew us upriver, so I broke out my handlining stuff, while poor Terry had to try to get down with heavier bottom bouncers. He got nothing at all. I got one 12" walleye and one 12" smallmouth. We fished shallow and deep from Mud Island to the steel mill. We talked to a bunch of fisherman, and most of them did lousey too. The wind quit about 6:00 PM -- just about the time we gave it up and drove home. Congrats on your catch! I hope to do as well sooner or later! -- Old Dave, Still Trying After All These Years

Hey neighbor, the wind did make things very tough, especially the closer we got to Calf Island. Sorry to hear about your catch. We fished that area a couple weeks ago and got skunked and only seen a few fish netted, so I think it's still early for that area. I like that area too for the lack of snags compared to the Trenton Channel. :dizzy: Keep after them Dave, the best is yet to come!
