Got the boat finished up @ 10:36 and was on the water out of fairhaven at 11:15....Way too nice of a day not to!!
Ran the boat around for a half hour and went over by the raft to drop anchor and eat my sub. Chucked out my no bainer rig (bobber and a leaf worm) and promtly caught a 9" perch...Cool I thought..I'll take a bunch of those....After another 1/2 hour, I still had only 1 perch!! (I know it sounds alot like ice fishing!!) Changed sides of the boat and caught 1 bluegill and 1 pumpkinseed...Gonna be one of those days! :rolleyes:
Moved over a couple hundred yards and promtly caught a LMB and a SMB..... Lobbed the bobber out and stuck my head under the dash to fix a wire that I forgot to hook up....Finally get myself weasled into position and I start hearing my drag start screaming...Come flying out of there and look over to see my rod tip just about touching the water!! After about a 20 min fight I get the monster to come up and show himself.....................The biggest freaking carp I'd ever seen!!! I tried to get him in the boat, I got ahold of his lip in my left hand and was going to tail him with my right hand...but I couldn't get my hand around his tail!!! That thing had to go 40#!!!!
Deceided to run some boards for awhile...Put out a couple of jointed rapalas and promtly caught a decent pike, about 29" or so... Trolled for another hour and never got a hit..... Water temp was up to 58 off of the launch and crystal clear...
Not a bad day for only a couple of hours on the pond...Maybe next time I'll catch 2 of something!!
