If the Hendrickson's are hatching I'll be on the Mason Tract or near 612 on the Mannistee.
If they aren't I'll be on the Pine River in Above Tippy.
With all of the rule changes the defintion of trout opener is not as special as it once was. You can experience a couple of openers this year if ya want!

I'll be on the lower manistee fishing steelheads, as always. I'll wait 'til late may to start my trout fishing. Big streamers at their best!!

Well for the traditional trout opener this year, I'll be Turkey hunting in Allegan ;)
However, you can bet the weekend after that, I will be checking out the streams and rivers west of the Big Mac.
Using our new camp, as a base camp (located near the Carp river)I'm sure to find endless miles of trout stream to explore. :D

Few days before the opener, I'll be painting the house and garage. Kids will be on spring break, so I'll have plenty of help. Come opening day, hope to try a few small lakes I discovered near by. Might fish the St Clair River too if I get the chance. I want to catch Walleyes and Rainbows this season.

I'll be on the flies only stretch of the Mannistee above the CCC bridge.Last year the Hendricksons were hatching opening weekend and the fishing was great. With the new regs. this year the Mannistee will be open from M-72 to the CCC Bridge starting April 1st. to catch and release fly fishing so I hope to get out a few times before April 29th.

I will be sitting thru a Haz-Material Operations course in conjunction with my fire fighter training the 1st weekend of April. I have not really studied the regs, but hope to hit SB of Ausable and maybe the upper stretches of the Pine sometime in late April early May.

Good Luck to all.. take a little trash out with you!!

I cannot finf reference to an early trout opener in my 2000 handbook. Where is the new rule in the handbook? I'm chompin' at the bit to wet a line!

Peddler, there are a lot of streams open year round and a few that open April 1st. Look at the different stream categories in the new guide and hopefully you will find one around you.
