Berrien Springs Cleanup!

I was wondering if you guys over here at the Michigan Sportsman site would like to join forces with my MI Angler forum and organize a summer clean-up at the Berrien Springs fishing area. Those of you who fish there know the sorry state of the banks there in terms of litter. Since my site is small, this one is big, and many of you guys also visit my site, I thought this would be the place to come and ask for help. So far I know that the consensus is to hold it during the skamania run so that we could also fish. Post here and let me know what you think.

I've seen the banks and they are in need of some TLC and elbow grease. But just think...if that is on the shore, imagine what is on the bottom of the river! Some gets washed away, but it has to collect somewhere. It's too bad some people don't have any regard for nature.

When is the run and is there a park anywhere nearby for camping?We always take along a garbage bag and fill it after we fish.The places we go get cleaner, and the people who see us cleaning up pitch in.

There was a Berrien springs dam cleanup a few years back that I showed up to. Besides being good for the river I came away with quite a bit of split shot and bell sinkers, not to mention spoons. It lasted for about an hour.

Sounds like a good idea. I live in Berrien Springs and am saddend to see just how anglers leave that place a mess.
