Some friends of ours and our family are planning a long 3-4 day weekend camping/canoe trip up to Oscoda the end of July. I was kind of toying with the idea of taking the kids (two 8 year olds and a 4 year old) out on a salmon charter(1/2 day). Good idea/bad idea? Anybody have any experience with charters and kids this age? Any charters out there that you would reccomend, or that cater to families with kids? thanks in advance.
The spirit of AuSable, capt Jim Moon. I'll have to see if I can find his number for you.

Ya know I almost forgot about you, Mr 16 gauge. Sorry! The number for the Spirit of the AuSable fishing charters is: 517-739-3072. This should still be a good number, although I havn't used it for about a year now.
My wife says I should warn you about sea sickness. Its not a problem as long as the waters not to rough. But it sure can ruin your day if the water is rough. If you get a chance to go I recamend going for the early charter. The water is usually the calmest in the early AM. And starts to get choppy around 10:00 or so. Also as for July fishing I don't think that is peak time for salmon, but there are usaully lots of lake trout to be found then. I think your kids will enjoy it.
Good luck! and have fun!

I am prone to sea-sickness, but if you start taking dromamine the night before, you will probably be ok. I did so and had no problems the last time I went.
