This afternoon I took my son and daughter down to the Kalamazoo River to do some bank fishing. My 6 year old daughter, Natalie, got her first Steelhead. The fish wasnt huge by most peoples standard's (about 20") but too her it was a world record. :D She is so exited she is already planning our next trip. My son, Evan, had great fun too he got his first big fish. A 6lb. Carp. Both were caught on spawn bags.

She will remember that fish forever!! steelheading is more addictive than crack, once you've hooked that first ironhead you'll be hooked for life :)

That is so cool, the first one is always the best, and I'm sure her face was as bright as a 100 watt bulb. Hope she has the fever now, but boy is it gonna cost you some money. New waders, rod, reel, net, terminal tackle etc. Nice post.

As I promised and not to try to out do any one else here is the picture of my kids and me with there first steelhead. Believe me it took both of them to land him. I tryed to get them to hold the fish but they didn't think that was such a great idea. I'm sure that will change.

Mike, you sure do have a beautiful little girl there. Don't you wish they stayed that size forever? I always tell my duaghter I'm going to tie a brick to her head so she wont grow so fast! Of course she doesn't see it that way. Oh well. I suppose someday I'll be taking my grand kids to the river. But then, I guess thats what its all about anyways, isn't it! Maybe if a few more kids were takin fishing we wouldn't have so many school shootings and things of that nature.
