I took this from another web site for you V guys incase you didn't hear about it. Death of a friend or dog is always a bad thing but to go doing what you love is the way I want to go also.

At the Eastern Iowa GSP walking trial last weekend, Gary Jagoda, a long time Viz pro from Michigan, suffered a major heartattack and died running his favorite dog.

His last words were asking the judge to see if his dog was om point over the hill......The judge checked and turned to tell Gary what was going on to find him on the ground! He died instantly.

He was one heck of a man, competitor, trainer and judge! I never saw him with out a smile on his face, even as he shook your hand after beating him.

He always offered a helping hand loading dogs, working a hard headed horse, scouting or polishing off a bottle!

He will be sorely missed.....Rest in peace my friend!

I didn't get the chance to know him but I definitely knew of him. Everything I heard about him centered around him being a solid guy, hard competitor, and very helpful. The face of Vizsla field trials will surely be different this year. At last years V trial at Ionia, it seemed that 90 % of the dogs were handled by Gary Jagoda or John Reid [from Onpoint]. His death was premature but at least he was able to do what he loved and died with the respect of his peers.

I met Gary a few times at various V trials and he was more that open to answer my newbie questions and lend a helping hand. He knew what he doing and had a way with his dogs.

Rest in peace, Gary. May you find your friends over the Rainbow Bridge whom have passed before you.

Yes Gary was a great person. Some did not like him, but if you really got to know him it was hard not to! He will be greatly missed. If anyone is interested in the memorial arrangments the Vizsla Club of Michigan will be having the end of the month in Ionia please let me know (my email is below my name), I also hope to have them posted on the VCM website soon. At least he left this world doing what he loved best....with a dog he loved dearly. Hopefully Cash will be able to continue on with another handler to finish his titles because that is what Gary would have wanted.

I emailed Gary with a question on a V issue a couple of weeks before his death and he sent me a long detailed email and told me to email him back with any more questions. I was impressed that he took the time to give advice to someone who he never met who is a first time V owner. I agree with Mike, if you are going to go, at least he died doing what he loved, field trial'ing. By the way, his web site said he was going to be cremated and buried with one his dogs who was an AFC.
