Steelhead flies

OK everyone, here's my story. I took about a 6 or 7 year break from fly fishing, and prior to that didn't fish for steelhead much. So I am making it my goal to catch a steelhead on a flyrod this year. I was just curious what types of flies everyone uses for spring Steelheading. And how they fish them. And if anyone employs different or unique methods I would love to hear about those as well.

I will be fishing almost entirely on the northern side of the UP. So unless I get a wild hair it will be strictly Lake Superior run steelies. I really appreciate any help on this one. I am really getting hooked again and wondering why I took such a long break with it. Oh yeah, buddy got a boat. Anyway I have gone fly fishing more this year than I have in the past2 years combined. Looking forward to the run!

I mainly fish the western U.P. for steelhead in the spring. I started using my flyrod last spring. The chuck n duck method seems to work the best with the fast U.P. rivers. You are able to get your flies down to the fish a lot quicker. I've had the most success with egg patterns, single eggs tied in orange, pink, chartruese, and oregon cheese.
