What types of paint do you all run through your airbrush? I am getting my hands on one and need to know what type of paint you guys use. Gonna try painting some lures first hand myself. No one makes a good purple and it just ticks me off. Help

Your right about the purple Andy. I found a REAL good purple made by Piratte Joe's at the the show in Southgate a week ago. I bought all they had.

I paint my own Rapala's (by no mean an expert) but I've tried all kinds of things. I used to sand them down & prime them before repainting (don't do it anymore). Now I hit them with rustolem primer and I try to use Rustolem for my base color then add the details with the airbrush. My air brush paints are from Micheals and are the ones made for the airbushes I'll check the brand at lunch. I use a variety of clear coat, from Kryola High Gloss to Testors Dull coat depending on what I'm looking for. Sometimes I sprinkle glitter into the clear coat as well.

A lot of people use Createx paints for custom baits. If you haven't been there yet, you might want to visit http://www.tackleunderground.com/ to get some good info on creating custom lures.

I couldn't agree more with PencilPlugger. Createx paints are the way to go. Go to www.createxcolors.com (http://www.createxcolors.com/) that is there link and it will give you locations near you or websites you can buy from. Great selection of colors and will spray right out of the bottle. I just bought 20 new colors last weekend.

Tackleunderground is also an awesome site. That is where I got all my info before starting to make plugs. Tons of knowledge and cool people

Checked at lunch the airbrush paints I use are.......... Createx! I actually haven't bought any in about a year but as far as I know Micheals still carries them.

I plan on painting plugs and cranks. I also make ice fishing lures too.

I 'll go to michaels tomorrow while im out.
