I purchased a 21' Seaswirl WA I/O last year. I have been thinking of how I want to mount my rod holders and downriggers. I am looking at two 36" Pursuit track system mounted to the gunwales on each side. Any advise would be appreciated. I am new to salmon fishing from a boat and did not know if downriggers off the side would work as well as downriggers off the back of the boat. Also looking at Big Jon electric captian pak downriggers. Thanks for the help.

I loved my pursuit track system, I don't think you can go wrong with it!! As far as your riggers being mounted on the gunwales, thats up to you. I would suggest doing a mock setup with everything before you install. Stand in the back of the boat with everything resting where you would install it, and move around like you were fighting a fish. If its comfortable, go for it, if its not, keep moving things around until it is. Personally, I like my riggers pinched in the corners with swivel bases so I can swing them any direction. All personal preference though. Good luck with the new boat!!

I have a Striper 2600. I have everything mounted on my Gunnels and would do it the exact same way if I were to do it over. I have a 2' berts track just above my combing pads, then behind that, a rigger, then a 6" berts track, then my back rigger. This gives me 9 rod holders(4 berts and 5 cannons) on each gunnel, and I still have the whole chute open to net fish through. One day I'll get some pics up. If I were to do it again, I would contact Berts or Pursuit and have one length of track for each gunnel, as long as I could get it(6 - 7') and bolt it down and be done.
