WALLEYE MIKE

Well, I launched at Selfridge and went to the St. clair light. There was about 35 boats fishing on the west side of the channel. Did not see anything caught. I trolled the channel edge and caught nothing. Anchored with the other boats---caught nothing. Drifted on the outside of the boats---caught nothing. Went back to the 400 club about 4 miles out in 15 1/2 ft. and drifted and started to catch perch. Brought home 17 decent perch, threw back about a dozen small ones. Had a perch biting, set the hook, two turns of the reel, when I felt more weight than a perch. Was using an ultralight rod and thought I had a decent smally. Got it to the boat after a few minutes and lo and behold I did have a perch--
with a pike attached to it. It went about 26-28in. On the radio, some guys were fishing by the Strawberry light and catching perch and smally's. But what a gorgous day out there. Fished from 6:30 til 1pm.
