I know, I know. . .there are no cougars in Michigan, but our secretary here at work along with her husband saw one last weekend near M37. There is no reason I would not believe her. She said it crossed the road in front of them about 100 yards and they watched it along side the road for about 30 seconds as it walked into the brush. They reported it on the DNR website, but haven't heard anything about it.
It looks like a bad time to post this with all the housecat sightings, but just an FYI.
I think we should start a new "Cougar" forum ;)

It’s probably the same people that saw the ( city cougar ) in Sterling Heights.
You know the yellow and white tabby cat. :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

I figured some people would make comments like this, that's why I waited a couple days to decide whether to post or not. . .my mistake, sorry for the post.

Yeah, like I said. . .I thought about it and it was just a bad time for the post with all the housecat pics going around. If you wouldn't have made the post, several others were waiting in the wings. . .I would have been as well, except that I actually believe this story. She didn't even think it was much of a topic, but her husband was pretty excited she said and she didn't know why?

I am baffled at why people don't think there are cougar in Michigan. There weren't any coyotes in west michigan years ago either!

No need to be sorry for the post, if your secretary and her husband say they saw a cougar and she is a reputable source then why not believe her? Just because we have not come up with a dead cougar does not mean they're not out there. Too many people are quick to say everyone that says they've seen one are liars or misinformed.
Personally I have not made up my mind, however I'm not going to make fun of anybody or challenge their integrity. Can cougars survive and thrive in Michigan? Possibly, maybe someday those so called liars or misinformed people will be proved to be reiliable sources. Until then don't be afraid to post anything about Cougar's in Michigan.

A friend at work told me about a bow hunter who had quite an experience in his treestand facing a cougar last fall.
I've been in the woods alone many times, the several sightings give something to think about.

I left MIchigan in 1984,moved out west, lots of coyotes. I still come home every October to bowhunt. My brother is MSP at Coldwater and I rode with him afew nights at work. We saw coyotes....plenty of em'. They looked huge to me. Way bigger than western coyotes.
