I have tried a lot of methods including the commercial cures w/dye, borax, salt, etc..what we do now is very simple and works as good as anything else (imo). Take eggs (loose or skien) and rinse them in cold river water until there is no blood or slime, then put your typical use quantity in either plastic tubs or ziplock type bag, and put in freezer. When you need some spawn, you have just the amount you need. This method seems to last a long time and give exellent results for me.

I like to use the Sugar/salt curing method.
Rinse your eggs(I usually only do loose ones). Take a small pale and put a quart of cold water in it. Then add 1 cup of table salt and 1 cup of sugar. Dissolve the salt and sugar. Add a couple of the eggs(They should float: if not add more salt and sugar).
Then dump the rest of the eggs in and put in the fridge for a few hours. When the eggs end up on the bottom they are done!
The longer you leave the eggs in the more they end up like rubber. I suggest 2-3 hours but you need to check it out for yourself and experiment with it.
Check out <www.steelheadnet.com> They have a few different recipes there.

Two other methods you might consider are Borax and Boric Acid.
