Has anyone heard any updates on the Sako/Tikka stainless recall? Thinking of buying a Tikka Lite Stainless 7-08. But with all the talk of stainless barrel failures, I'm having second thoughts. Get the impression Beretta has been and is continuing to implement major damage control.

I need to hear more than a phone call saying "trust me, your rifle is fine". The only way I found out about the "recall hotline", which is just a recording, was on a wholesale dealer's website. Beretta has yet to publish anything regarding the recall. Good luck trying to find out more than just a phone #.

There was a bad batch of steel that was used in manufacturing the barrels of certain Sako rifles. It is my understanding that this was only one batch and it was used for a relatively small number of guns manufactred in a relatively short period of time. I am only aware of one failure that was posted on accurate relaoading forums (there may have been more I don't know about).
Beretta is probably keeping this low key because they want people to forget about it. Personally, my rifle wasn't in the recall and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
