Fished Weds. afternoon from 1 till 6:30 in front of the barricks and it was slow. Moved around every 1/2 hour in the area and caught about a dozen dinks and a couple of 9" which were later released, never did see any hogs in the hole.
Tonight- decideding to save my energy from that 1+mile WALK from the boat launch from selfridge to the barricks after slaying them from the previous evening, I decided to go out straight out from the launch and angled left and fished about 300 yards, set up camp and from 2-6:30 proceeded to slay every perch under 5". Never did see any hogs (my standards are rapidly sinking 8"+perch) Will probably go out again (I have a high threshold for punishment) this Monday in the same area (yea I'm just an idiot) and then call it a year (I've only been out two other times) and then wait for the boating season (Christ, I don't even own a boat and neither do my friends).
At least my fish trap pro I bought this year kept me warm, with the heater. Next year I plan on doing more fishing with it, after I buy some ski's to put on it. With the snow we got, those runners they sell for them made it unbearable to pull by hand.
In hindsight there is nowhere to go but up, if I keep every fish over 8" on my trips I could feed myself for 1 meal. Hopefully in 2 years these perch will be the Jumbo's. Best of luck to all (except those 10% that don't need it).
