Some friends and I are heading up to the UP in late May early June to do some fishing. We want to target rivers, streams and lakes. Everyone is bringing spinning rods and fly fishing gear. We should have access to several boats as well. Drift boats and possibly bigger. Going up for about 5 days. We went to Pictured Rocks last year, just south of it by 20 miles, forget the name of the camp ground. Looking to go a little further West this year. The fishing was ok at best. Think near WI border or up in the porky's. Any information would be greatly appreciated. This is our second annual trip and looking for a great spot. PM me if desired.

I have been picking my uncles brain on spots to fish as he has lived in the western UP (Mass) his whole life. He has old maps and notes from when him and his father were fishing, cant wait for him to return from florida so I can check them out. There are no shortages of spots to go. This summer ill be checking out bond falls area as well as the victoria resovior and Ill make a trip to my aunts place on the Otter lake in baraga. Good luck and be sure to post when your going, I might just be up there.

lol, Kumma! made that run last year....otter provided the best and most consistent fishing last year. Most years i could not say that............Victoria is probably the most unpredictable of the 3.....

Yep seems like there pretty common places to visit. I Fished otter lake for the first time in 5 years last summer. Just hit it a couple of hours from shore, lots of seeds, perch, rockbass and Bullheads, no pike. Of course the main purpose was a motorcycle trip so it was a bonus to even wet my line. Hope to have a boat up there this summer. Last time up there we just killed the pike at the river mouth, id like to give it another shot.

We go up to the area 20 miles south of Pictured Rocks every year the second week of June. Pete's Lake area. I can't give you any specific lake to try but we can usually find something biting on one of the lakes in the area - and there are a lot to choose from. Corner Lake, Fish Lake, and Thunder Lake are usually pretty good bets. We are usually after Bass or Pike.
As far as Trout go...you are on your own. but I can guarantee you there are trout to be found!
Good luck,
SB
