I mean to tell you, WHAT A DAY...Fished for over 10 hours today, including Metro's south marina, Venetian, Campau Bay, and a few other canals bordering the Clinton River...Caught an estimated 500+ perch, only brought home 16 and some of those were only 7" (buddy wants some fish)...The cold front took care of any chance for the nicer perch to bite on this evening...
I then get to my car. I'm exhausted after working all night Sunday night and being up all day Monday...I have a flat tire...Put some "Fix-a-flat" in the tire but can hear the air just oozing out...Drive the 1/4 mi. to the gas station and its flat again by the time I get there...
Ok, I'll just change the tire and put the spare on and I'll be on my way...Not so fast. No trouble at all getting the lugnuts off. Then when it came time to pull the tire off, it was just corroded to the bone and stuck something fierce...The person running the gas station at S. River & Jefferson gave me a can of WD-40 at no charge...It eventually works as I used my spud to poke and prod at the tire and finally get it loose...
A very big thank you to the person at the gas station. He made every effort to help me out any way he could...My hat's off to him, he saved me from calling either a tow truck or the fire dept. to get the tire loose...Make sure you patronize that gas station when your in the neighborhood...
All I could think of when I caught all those dinks today was:
Price of bait for the day: $6.00
Price of gas to get there and back home: $10-12
The look on my son's face when he catches his 1st nice perch thru the ice next winter: priceless... ;)
