Has any ever fished out of Venice? Inshore for reds and trout looks pretty good and price for a guide very reasonable. Off shore rig fishing, tuna fishing, and trolling for wahoo looks unreal! Understanding that alot of fuel is going to be used to get to the platforms, makes the price of a day seem reasonable. Was it worth it? Can you book a trip with perhaps another party to lessen the cost to both? Any charters to avoid? Any info would be welcome. Thanks Riverman

Howdy, riverman-
Sorry, can't answer any of your questions (not into fishing when I lived out there) but if you go, be sure to catch the show along the boardwalk.... :yikes: :D

I just saw that there is a small article about fishing in Venice, La. in the March Bassmaster magazine, or maybe you already saw that. I'll look the article over and see if there is any good info.

Riverman,
That whole area is just fantastic. I have fished there on 5 different occassions and it is a place I could live.
We always use a guide name Bryan Dickinson at Dixie Riverside Charters at 985-657-9214. Born and raised in Buras 15 miles North of Venice. Has a great boat and knows where the fish are. We have done great every day we have fished with Bryan.
He also has a new full sized trailer with three bedrooms two showers and I think we only paid $100.00 a night, but don't hold me to that.
Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone, keep the info coming! If the wife and I get down there next month I will make a reservation with Bryan for inshore fishing. Thanks for the # Ray. I hope someone here has been offshore to the oil rigs or trolled for wahoo or fished for the huge tuna there, that's what I really want to do, but the price is high. Thanks again. Riverman

It,has been over 20 years since I lived down there, I used to tend s.w. pass light house,we used to catch fish till our arms were tired right off the lighthouse dock, reds ,blues ,sea trout and cats.We used to take our avon back in the bayous and site fish, what a blast. If you decide to rent a boat instead getting a guide make sure you have a gps with you all the bayous look the same, very ery flat you can see for miles. If your driving down ,Watch your speed once south of New Orleans, it used to be anyway one big speed trap all the way to Venice , escially if you have out of state plates.

I've never fished it, but there are alot of guys on the Florida Sportsman site that have. Heres a link to one of their trips http://outdoorsbest.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=319362.
There are alot of other reports on there from Venice, just do a search of their forum. Make sure to use LA or louisiana in the search as there is a venice in Florida as well.
