How were the ice conditions where you were today?

Hey Guys and Girls, How were the ice conditions today where you fished. Could not get out the last couple of days and will try to get out on Tuesday depending on conditions. Looking mostly at Selfridge or Fairhaven. Hopefully it will not be as bad as I think it might be. Also looking at shore access. Thanks in advance.

Fished Selfridge yesterday and today no gas pockets, I ran my machine no problems with the ice to speak of. For those who tried raise me on the radio, sorry I forgot it on the kitchen table.

Ice near shore was deteriorating fast at Gino's. In some spots I sunk in at least 6-8 inches. At 250 lbs I was a little concerned about a wet foot. With the wind that we had today I didn't venture any deeper than 4 foot on the lake. Dinks ain't worth it.

There was around 10" of solid ice in front of Genos. Moved between Selfridge and Cotton around 11:00 and stayed for a few hours. There was around 9" there, but on the way back there was quite a bit of slush/water on top.

That 10 inches of ice could make a dandy ice floe. Last year we fished ice on Sunday and had open water on Tuesday. I think I got those days right. Who's got a log book from last year. I don't. Help me out here.

MiketheElder, I think Sunday is right, We fished togther (next to each other) if I remember correctly, Ed Stringer and his wife were also in front of Gino's. It was a pretty warm day, that day (about 40 degrees or so), I actually did quite well that day. Actually caught more that day, than I have all winter this year.

Out of SANG this afternoon till dark plenty of water and slush on the ice but 8"-10" of clear solid ice. Only problem was no fish anywhere.

I bet we had 16" to 18" of ice at Fairhaven on Saturday.
People were driving their cars and trucks out.

Good thing was with the heavy fog, It kept the snowmobiler's away for most of the morning.

Hey Guys, thanks for the response. michigan-fishermen1219, I fished Selfridge this afternoon and the ice was fine where I was. I was not going to fish today. I was just there to check out the ice and when I arrived at 1 pm there was a old dude coming in with a limit and that convinced me to go out. Now he told me that he did get most of them in the morning and the bite really slowed in the last hour or so but.........He was right, the bite for me was almost nil. I did catch two perch and I did see one guy with four fish but that was it. Now the ice report. The ice was a good 8 to 10 inches out toward the left of the access site. There was about a half inch of water on the ice but that was dwindling as I left. It was quite windy this afternoon but the ice was a lot better than I thought it might be. With this cold coming on it should be okay for a while. Now if I could just be there when the fish are!

Ice fished yesterday; went all the way to the auger head to punch a hole thru the ice.

COHO, (and everyone else),

We caught a few. Its definately a morning bite.
Started fishing around 7am. 13" Jolopy right off the bat :D

Then we got an 11", 10", 12.5", and a couple of 9"s within 20 minutes.

Daybreak arrived and that was about it. Took home 8 nice perch & 1 - 8.5" gill.

We weren't seeing many fish in the hole. Moved once around 10:30 and got into the dinks. Left at noon.

Gotta go early. Man those were some nice fish in the AM!!

been hearin that alot, wonder if you started at like 5:00 A.M. if you could get closer to a limit.might just try it later this week.
